School workshops and readings

Creating joy and enthusiasm for stories, pictures and book creation

Accompanied my puppet bear, I visit your school or Kindergarten and read my book “The Bears are coming back” a story about the escape of the bears from Bern , about discovering homesickness, and about learning to appreciate that which we have. We look at where the story came from, and find out more about the bears in Bern, their history and connection to Napoleon. Then, depending on time, age group and personal class themes, the following workshops or a combination of them may be chosen.

From Sketch to book- inspiring the class to create their own books and stories, we 

explore how my book developed from the first flicker of ideas and sketches until the finished product. 

Story creation- using games and drama, we discover playful ways of creating stories together and examine character and basic plot concepts. 

Everyone can draw!- from dots. curves, lines, wiggles and circles we discover how

pictures can appear. A fun method of creative drawing, which is easy and accessible and destroys the myth of “I can’t draw”.  

These workshops are available in English or German or a little of each depending on the individual teacher requirements.
