Bowen is a holistic remedial body technique that works on the soft connective tissue,(fascia,) of the body. It consists of a sequence of gentle moves interspersed with periods of rest. It is a very gentle and healing form of therapy, whose stimulation encourages body to find its balance and realign itself. It has a very relaxing effect and can help relieve pain and rebuild energy.

Pain relief
Whether it’s back pain, neck pain, shoulder problems or sciatica.
Bowen can help release blockages, restore balance to muscles and fascia – and give you back your freedom of movement.
Many people feel, after one or just a few treatments, how the pain subsides and the body regains the space to move.
Sports injuries, accidents, hip or knee surgery
Patients with sports injuries and those who have been in accidents have found the Bowen technique to be very helpful as a healing therapy during their recovery. It can improve the rehabilitation period, regardless of when the injury occurred.
Headaches and related tension
Bowen can help to reduce migraines, tinnitus and tension headaches.
When your head is throbbing, your jaw is clenched or your ears are ringing, everyday life becomes a challenge. Bowen therapy sends impulses through the nervous system that can relieve tension and promote relaxation.
Breathing difficulties
Bowen has helped to relieve sinusitis, hay fever or asthma.
Bowen therapy can help asthma patients lead a more comfortable life by releasing tension in the diaphragm. A high percentage of asthma patients find that Bowen helps to reduce the frequency and severity of attacks.

Support for babies & children – gently & effectively
Bowen has helped to alleviate sleep problems, colic and restlessness in babies and children. Little bodies often sense more than they show – and respond particularly sensitively to mindful touch. Bowen works through the nervous system and can help release the tension underlying restlessness, bloating or poor sleep.
Relief from digestive strain
Irritable bowel syndrome, bloating and a feeling of fullness – is often helped by Bowen. What we cannot digest – physically or emotionally – often lingers in the abdomen. Bowen therapy provides stimuli that activate the autonomic nervous system, release tension and gently relieve the digestive tract.
Sleep disturbances and inner restlessness
Bowen can help to relieve inner restlessness, sleep disturbances and emotional exhaustion. If you’re constantly on standby, can’t switch off at night and are running on low power during the day, your system is under constant stress. Bowen may help relieve this very issue – through gentle touches that remind the nervous system: you’re allowed to let go.
Support of neurological conditions
In cases of ADHD, facial paralysis or Parkinson’s disease, Bowen therapy may provide complementary stabilisation – gently, yet noticeably.

Bowen therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment – but it can open up new possibilities where conventional approaches reach their limits. Particularly with neurological symptoms, the method acts as a gentle prompt for the system to reorganise itself, strengthen connections and build trust.
Many experience surprising changes – not as miracles, but as a way of bringing the body back into harmony.
Facial palsy ( Female 53)
D.came to me suffering from a sudden unexplained right facial nerve paralysis.
Her right eyelid and the corner of her mouth were drooping. Blinking was a struggle and she had difficulty using her tongue when eating.
Improvement showed after the first treatment, then after 4 treatments, (4 weeks later)the symptoms could hardly be felt or seen.
Frozen Shoulder (Female 65)
J. was suffering with a right frozen shoulder which had begun six months previously.
Her shoulder movement was very limited and she hadn’t slept for months due to pain.
After one treatment she reported that she was able to sleep again.
Compressed Ribs ( Male 68)
P. was partly caught under a falling tree, although no internal damage or broken bones were present, he was badly bruised. Standing after sitting, as well as sitting for longer periods brought on intense pain. After one treatment he felt almost pain free and felt able to drive back home himself.
Clients arrive in loose comfortable clothing, the treatment can take place over the clothing or directly on the skin depending on the condition and on their individual preferences.
A typical Bowen session generally lasts from 45 to 60 minutes. Clients usually lie on a massage/bodywork table or bed, or may be seated in a chair if required, for comfort.
Gentle sets of moves are then given over specific points, between each set of moves the practitioner pauses for as many minutes as are needed for the clients body to respond, these pauses allow your system to react to the treatment creating space for regeneration regulation and relief.
During these pauses the practitioner may even leave the room.
Many clients describe a deep sense of relaxation and "letting go" after a treatment,
others a sensation of inner alignment or simply soothing calm.
